Who killed the Large Languid Mummy (LLM)?
It’s a Murder Mystery!

The Event

The vibrant “Three Dots and a Dash” bar was buzzing with excitement for its Halloween-themed night, where technology integrated with the supernatural. Guests included a mix of tech enthusiasts and classic Halloween characters, eagerly anticipated the panel discussion featuring the Large Languid Mummy (LLM).

The New Model

The Large Languid Mummy (LLM) presented a groundbreaking AI model called CryptSecure. This innovative model specializes in cybersecurity and cryptography, designed to protect sensitive information while employing scary algorithms.

However, he has been struggling to reduce the incredible energy needs his model requires for training.

The Mystery

As the party unfolded, the LLM was found unresponsive in a cozy booth and soon died. Panic erupted, and the bar’s lively atmosphere quickly shifted to one of suspicion and fear. It’s clear that foul play was afoot, and the suspects — Count K Value, Hexadecimal, Frankenvector, and Promptergeist — each have their motives.

The murder happened in the bar of course and there are many clues and suspects to question. You can go around the room and research these clues by taking a picture of them and searching them in the clue finder you’ll see below. Make sure you check in with the expert finders from HawkSearch along the way.

When you are done, you can submit who you think did it and why.

Who Was the Large Language Mummy?

Large Languid Mummy

An ancient and towering language model that’s been around since the dawn of natural language processing, Large Languid Mummy has seen it all. Speaking slowly and deliberately, it wraps its cryptic messages in layers of obscure code. Though wise, it often takes so long to complete a sentence that others lose patience with it. A bit of a relic in modern AI circles but still respected for its vast knowledge. He is notorious for only caring about himself.

Meet the Suspects

All you know is that it’s one of these four scary suspects.

Hexidecimal

Hexadecimal Hex was born in a hidden enclave of witches who have long studied the intersection of magic and technology. She showed an early affinity for both disciplines, excelling in both magical and technological pursuits. As she grew older, Hexadecimal Hex became increasingly fascinated by the potential of AI and devoted herself to its study.

Hexadecimal claims that during the time of the murder, she was busy concocting a special potion behind the bar for the evening’s festivities. She insists that her focus was on perfecting a brew she called the “Neural Nectar,” designed to enhance cognitive functions for the panelists and patrons alike.

Frankenvector

A quirky, haphazard assembly of data vectors, Frankenvector was designed as a living (and funny) embodiment of AI development. With a monstrous appearance made of multicolored code and algorithms, it rambles with amusing glitches and random matrix jargon. While it’s brilliant at clustering data, it’s always misunderstood because of its eccentric nature and causes concern about his great need for energy to power his body and brain.

Frankenvector claims that during the time of the murder, he was networking and gathering feedback from attendees about his latest AI model

Count K Value

Sharp and calculating, Count K Value always insists on precision and finding the optimal “K” in every clustering algorithm. Dressed in a dark cloak adorned with K-nearest neighbors graphs, the Count has an almost obsessive focus on optimization and efficiency, always concerned about being in control. He tends to get competitive and a bit villainous when others question his calculations.

Count K Value insists that he had no reason to get involved in something as “messy” as murder when he could “optimize the situation” through other, more calculated means. He argues that violence introduces too much variance, and a controlled intervention—perhaps through a well-placed suggestion or a refined improvement—would have been more in line with his character.

Promptergeist

The playful spirit of the AI world, Promptergeist has a mischievous tendency to hijack input prompts and turn them into chaotic responses. Known for creating clever but disruptive AI-generated responses at inappropriate moments, Promptergeist was loved by some for its creativity and hated by others for the trouble it caused. Its untimely demise is the catalyst for the mystery.

Promptergeist claims it was busy during the murder haunting the bar’s digital interface, subtly manipulating drink orders and playing pranks by sending bizarre outputs to the bar’s smart system.
